Los problemas del patrimonio histórico-artístico, su conservación, gestión y difusión, ocupan y preocupan cada vez más a distintos campos profesionales y estamentos administrativos. Se trata de un tema en constante debate en la sociedad española, consciente de disponer de un copioso caudal de riqueza histórico-artística, cuya adecuada conservación se impone como tarea prioritaria de responsabilidad social. Este texto tiene como objetivo facilitar la introducción al concepto de patrimonio histórico, a las teorías de la restauración y a la conservación de bienes culturales.

"The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) has completed a five-year program of research into the aging of printing and writing papers. From studies al five internationally respected research institutions hace come three methods to accelerate paper aging. The methods use elevated temperature, elevated light flux and elevated concen tration of the common atmospheric pollutant gas, nitrogen dioxide, to accelerate aging. Because of the careful scientific inquiry involved, the research professionals can provide assurance that the methods are scientifically sound. They generate physical and chemical changes in paper that are essentially the same as those that occur after long-term natural aging. Use of the test methods permits evaluation of the stabily of papers to longterm natural aging affects and allows for their classification into stable,moderately stable and unstable categories.
